Net Nevada - Get Connected!

  1. Close all programs until you are at your desktop
  2. Click the Start button and choose Control Panel
    1. If you are running Windows XP in classic mode, you will need to select the Start button, select Settings, then choose Control Panel
  3. Click the Switch to Classic View icon
  4. Double-click the Network Connections icon
  5. Click the Create a new connection icon
  6. Click the Next button
  7. Select the 1st option, Connect to the Internet, and then click the Next button
  8. Select the 2nd option, Set up my connection manually and then click Next
  9. Select the 1st option, Connect using a dial-up modem, and then click Next
  10. In the ISP Name field, type "Net Nevada" and click Next
  11. Enter "638-5465" for the Telephone number and click the Next button
  12. In the User name field, type your Email address (also known as your User ID). If your Email address is johnd@netnevada.net then, your User name/ID is johnd@netnevada.net. Do NOT type it as JOHND or JohnD
  13. In the Password field, type your password; if it is bakd2 then, type it exactly as bakd2. Do NOT type it as Bakd2 or BAKD2. Your password will appear on the screen represented as black dots or asterisks. This is a security feature that prevents people from seeing the letters and numbers
  14. In the Confirm password field, type your password again
  15. Make certain the following boxes are unchecked and click Next:
    1. Use this account name and password when anyone connects to the Internet from this computer
    2. Make this the default Internet connectio
    3. n
    4. Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection
  16. Check the box next to Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop and click the Finish button
  17. Windows XP is now setup to access the Internet using Net Nevada
