Net Nevada - Get Connected!

  1. Close all programs until you are at your desktop.
  2. Double-click on My Computer.
  3. Double-click on Control Panel.
  4. Double-click on Network and Dial-up Connection.
  5. Double-click on Make New Connection.
  6. A Network Connection Wizard will pop up, click Next.
  7. Select the 2nd option: Dial-up to the Internet and then click Next.
  8. Select the 3rd option: I want to set up my Internet connection manually… and then click Next.
  9. Select I connect through a phone line and a modem and then click Next.
  10. Make certain the correct modem is selected and then click Next.
  11. Enter 702 for the Area code and 638-5465 for the Telephone number.
    1. Uncheck Use area code and dialing rules and click Next.
  12. Enter your User name (also known as your User ID). Your User name/ID is your Email address. If your Email address is johnd@netnevada.net then, your User name/ID is johnd@netnevada.net. Do NOT type it as JOHND or JohnD.
  13. Enter your Password. If it is bakd2 then, type it exactly as bakd2. Do NOT type it as Bakd2 or BAKD2. Your password will appear on the screen represented as black dots or asterisks. This is a security feature that prevents people from seeing the letters and numbers; then click Next.
  14. Type in Net Nevada for the Connection name and click Next.
  15. Select Yes to set up the Email now and then click Next.
  16. Select Create a new Internet mail account and then click Next.
  17. Enter your Name. This can be anything, and is what people see when you send them an Email; click Next.
  18. Enter your Email Address and then click Next.
  19. Select POP3.
    1. For the Incoming Mail Server, type: mail.netnevada.net
    2. For the Outgoing Mail Server, type: smtp.netnevada.net and click Next.
  20. Enter your Username and Password again.
    1. Make certain Secure Password is not checked.
    2. Remember Password can be selected and then click Next.
  21. Uncheck To connect to the Internet immediately… and then click Finish.
  22. Windows 2000 is now setup to access the Internet using Net Nevada.
