netscape set-up

Netscape Mail can be a very convenient way to send and receive mail. Clicking on the little mail icon in the bottom right corner of your browser window brings up your mail client and checks the server for new mail. By default, Netscape composes mail in HTML - the language of web pages. You can change this if you like in the preferences. Following is the step by step.

Identity

Launch Netscape then go to Edit --> Preferences. From the left menu, choose "Mail & News" then choose "Identity". For "Real Name" you should type your name as you would like it to appear in your outgoing e-mail messages. For both "Reply to Address" and "E-Mail Address" put your e-mail address (mailbox@netnevada.net). If you are with a company or organization you can put this in the "Organization" field.

Next choose "Mail Server" from the left-hand menu. For "Mail Server User Name" put only your mailbox name in lowercase. For "Outgoing Mail Server" put: smtp.netnevada.net. For "Incomming Mail Server" put mail.yourdomain.net. Replace "yourdomain" with the appropriate domain you chose; summerlin.net, greenvalley.net, etc. Make sure that POP3 is chosen for your "Mail Server Type" then hit OK. To set the News feature you can choose the News tab and set the server name to news.netnevada.net. You can adjust other preferences but this is all you will need in order to send and receive mail. Happy Mailing!
