Net Nevada - Get Connected!

macintosh set-up

MAC OS 8 | SYSTEM 7.5.3 TO 7.6 | SYSTEM 7.5.2 & EARLIER
In theory, System 8 on the Macintosh was supposed to be a breeze to set-up with the Internet Set-Up Assistant. I have tried this method a number of times only to find out that it does not work. If you would like to give this method a try you can follow these instructions. If this does not work or you would like to take my word for it, following is a step-by-step.

Go to your Apple Menu and pull down to Control Panels. Open all the Control Panels. Open the TCP/IP Control Panel by double clicking on it. If you have more than one Internet Service or place where you connect from you may want to go to File->Configurations then duplicate a profile and make that profile active leaving the default intact. If this sounds too complicated or you have one internet service (us) then skip this. Set these settings to the following:
Connect via: PPP
Configure: Using PPP Server
IP Address: <will be supplied by server>
Subnet Mask: <will be supplied by server>
Router Address: <will be supplied by server>
Name Server Addr: 64.89.225.9
(below that one) 64.89.225.10
Then to the right...
Additional Search Domains: ns.netnevada.net
(below that one) ns2.netnevada.net
Then close the TCP/IP Control Panel and when it asks you if you would like to save your new preferences, say yes.

TCP/IP Control Panel

Open the PPP Control Panel. If you would like to create a new profile follow the same instructions in the first paragraph above. Enter the following information.

Connection: Choose Registered User
Name: VUNNVyouremail (the username you got when you signed-up)
Password: your password
You may check save password if you like.
Number: 388-7154
Or if you have call waiting on this line: *70, 388-7154

PPP Control Panel

You can go through the options that are given when you click on the options button but they may be left to the default. You can close this Control Panel because you must restart to have your TCP preferences take effect. To restart go to Special on the menu bar and pull down to Restart.

To connect you will click on the "Connect" button on the PPP Control Panel. You may want to create an alias to this control panel so you have a quick way to connect. Happy surfing!
